Looking for a fishfinder

Post by CarlFinder » Tue Feb 11, 2014 11:14 am

I'm looking to purchase a fish finder. I found this Hummingbird, but, I'm not sure about some specifics regarding it. I read somewhere that there are some new fish finders that offer side imaging as well as down imaging. So, that one looks great for me, but I didn't understand, does it have the mentioned features.

Just one more thing, if it doesn't have options for both scanning, I would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction by suggesting a finder that fulfills that requirement.

Thank you for your kind answers.

That unit is a simple traditional sonar unit that is portable.

Units that do Side Imaging go back as far as 2004 for Side Imaging and to Jan 2010 for Down Imaging.

Traditional sonar, Down Imaging and Side Imaging is shown with this screen capture of a tree:

A Humminibird unit that does all three image types has SI in the model name.

I know how this game is played, it is not enough to suggest how to play it too.
