Networking Helix 9 si to Onix 10 si

Post by bmcclain » Sun Aug 14, 2016 7:38 am

I've contacted HB and was told I can network the helix 9 to onix 10 with an ethernet cable and 2 adapters. They also said I would not be able to share waypoints.

What will I be able to share between the two units?
Can I use either transducer with each unit?

Before I purchase $100 worth of cables, I want to make sure I'm going to be able to share information.

You either didn't listen closely or the one you talked to is not knowledgeable about the subject.

You can connect a Helix 9 (any of them) to any ONIX with an Ethernet cable.

The Helix needs an Ethernet adapter to have that connection---AS EC QDE.
The ONIX has the threaded Ethernet port so it needs no adapter.

You need ONE Ethernet adapter and ONE Ethernet cable, that's it.

You can only share waypoints, nothing else.

The discontinued Ethernet capable number series units will share waypoints with an ONIX also.

thanks for the reply.
What about the transducer, will I be able to switch between the two units.

I received reply from HB in an email, so I guess the one that answered didn't know what they were talking about.

This means exacty what I stated:

"You can only share waypoints, nothing else."

A transducer is included in "nothing else"
